We host a Life Group in our home for church. Along with being a great time for fellowship and study of God’s Word with other Christians, this is oftentimes a great place to test new recipes as well. 🙂 So, this week, I had extra buttermilk in the fridge and some bananas begging to be banana bread…thus was born this Whole Wheat Buttermilk Banana Bread. I began with my mom’s basic banana bread recipe and then altered it to use some ingredients I had in my home that I wanted to incorporate. I also doubled the recipe and cooked it in a 9X13 cake pan.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup Butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 Bananas, mashed
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons, baking soda
2 teaspoons, vanilla
1 1/2 cups Sugar
3 cups Sprouted Wheat Flour
1 cup All Purpose Flour
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
Instructions:
Mix Butter, sugar, salt, banana, vanilla and eggs. In a separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until mixed.
Add in the chocolate chips.
Pour into a 9X13 pan. You can also bake in 2 loaf pans, but you would need to bake a bit longer.
Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Check with a toothpick. If it comes out clean when removed, the banana bread is done. If not, bake for an addition 5-10 minutes.
Blessings!
