Some of the best things I have found on Pinterest are the cleaning ideas! There are ways to clean everything from your laundry to your hair. I have a board called Sparkling Clean that focuses on home cleaning. Last week, I decided to be brave and look at the vents in my stove hood. Yuck! Thankfully, I also had this great link from One Good Thing by Jillee.
So, I took a deep breath and I pulled my vents down…I had not one, or two, but three!
Here is what they looked like:
When I touched them, my fingers were sticky and it was the kind of sticky that is hard to get off. Yuck! I set off to remedy the situation following the directions Jillee gave.
First, I boiled the water…
Then, I figured out that my vents didn’t fit well into any of the pots I had so I laid them in the sink and poured the boiling water over the top and then sprinkled the baking soda into the water and on the vents. Here they are after round one…a bit better.
While much better, they still needed help. So, I went for round two…vents in the sink, boiling water over the top and sprinkled with 1 cup of baking soda (due to the large sink). Here is what they looked like at round two…
So Much Better! I decided to go for round 3 and be done. They were almost perfect! Take a look:
Before seeing this cleaning idea, I must admit that I had completely ignored the vents…I just didn’t really look under the hood. But, now I am responsible. 🙂 I am so thankful to know how to clean these vents. I will likely do it much sooner than the years I waited this time…I know, embarrassing! 🙂
Blessings!
