Psalm 61:1-4 Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. For You have been a Shelter for me, A Strong Tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah

I am so thankful for God’s Word and how its truth draws me back to Him and reminds me that He is my sufficiency. Too often I am so unlike the Psalmist. He cried out to God and asked Him to take notice of his situation and I want people to hear my cry and attend to it forgetting that God is my Strong Tower and that His shelter is where my trust must be placed. When my heart is overwhelmed, I crumble and turn to some other much weaker tower and place my trust in its temporary help. It is my prayer that God will implant this truth in my heart deeply and that I will look to Him to overwhelm me with His greatness so that the sometimes overwhelming things of this earth will grow dim in comparison.
