Today is Veterans Day and I really am thankful for the Veterans of our U.S. Military and what they have done to maintain freedom here in the United States. I admittedly didn’t think about this enough today, but instead, enjoyed my freedom. We had the freedom to take a day off from school and relax a bit. We had the freedom to go to a restaurant and enjoy a meal I didn’t cook. We had the freedom to pray, thanking God for our meal, in public. We had the freedom to enjoy friendship over that meal. This morning we had the freedom to read our Bibles in our home. We had the freedom to drive our van on paved streets to the home we own. I had the freedom to kiss my husband when he came home and to put our baby to bed when he was tired, knowing he was safe and sound and tucked into a warm bed. There are so many simple things we are free to do. We have a lot to be grateful for.
According to Wikipedia, “Veterans Day is an official United States holiday honoring armed service veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.[1]”
So, it is time I said “Thank you!”. Thank you to our Government. Thank you to the men who have served in the military. Thank you to those who are still serving. Thank you to the families who miss their soldiers who have and are serving. And, thank you to God, without Whom true freedom would never be possible.
Blessings to you!
