Last night was a long night for my husband and me…
to bed at midnight due to a special event.
Text from our oldest sharing something important from his day….12:15 (So glad to hear about his day! He is SO missed while away at College!)
Feeding at 2:00…
2nd littlest woke up at 2:30 in tears.
2nd littlest back to bed at 3:15.
Feeding at 3:30.
Feeding at 5:30. (Growth Spurt!)
Everyone up at 7:30. (Dear Husband had to leave for work!)
A friend had posted the above photo on Facebook and it was timely. Our children grow up SO fast! And, when they do, we long for these days when they were little. We long for the days when they want to crawl in bed with us because they miss us. And while the older years are a blessing too…they bring so much change. They cause us to stretch.
We long for the early days when they were with us all the time. So this morning I am reminded how glad I am to be a Mom. I am so grateful to be mom to my little ones and bigger ones. God has blessed me. There is nothing I would rather be exhausted by.
So, even though I dumped my first cup of coffee in my lap because I forgot I was holding it (this really happened!), and then, when I went to get another fresh cup of coffee I found my favorite mug broken…(the chip and crack are down the side opposite of the handle)
I am choosing to use a new mug and live by its imprint…
Our God is trustworthy! I will trust in Him. I am SO grateful that my joy is not bound up in sleep or favorite mugs or even our children staying little. In the midst of all of this change, I am loved by a God who stays the same. He is the sure foundation in every stage of life.
I am SO grateful for my life and I thank God for it…in rest and in exhaustion. 🙂
Blessings!

Thank you so much Monica! Many blessings to you! Thank you for featuring my post to! I am hopeful that it will be an encouragement to some! Blessings!
You made me cry too! I can so identify with you. Our oldest dd is 27, the next dd is 25, and our youngest dd is 3. So I understand the exhaustion of parenting the young and the old, but praise God, He is so good all the time!
Mary, thank you so much for your comment! You do understand…what a blessing! Wow…a three year old…such life being brought into your home :). Blessings to you!
