Day 10 – Month of Thankfulness

One of my all time favorite hymns is Great is Thy Faithfulness. I am SO grateful for God’s faithfulness toward us and this hymn is such a reminder to me. I am so aware of the propensity of my heart toward unfaithfulness that I find great comfort in knowing that the God who created me, saved me and sustains me will never change and will always love me. Some find hymns to be too “old fashioned”. I see it a bit differently…When I hear hymns written in times of old by Christians of years gone by, I am encouraged. I am reminded that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He was faithful to them, and He is faithful to me. Amazing!

Here are the words:

Verse 1

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Chorus:

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

Verse 2

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Chorus

Verse 3

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Chorus again 🙂

So, today I thank God for His faithfulness to the Christians from years past, to the Christians of today, and to me…and you! 🙂

Blessings!
