The Produce Box is Returning!

I can’t wait until Tuesday! Due to all of the special meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas and our annual New Year’s Eve Party, I discontinued my farm box for a month or so. Since we serve so many traditional meals, I had to be sure that I was purchasing the items I needed. And, I had much less flexibility to make meals from whatever arrived. But, I am ready for the box to return…I must be, I am blogging about it on Thursday…with still 5 days to wait!

According to the Farm Fresh to You website, here is the list:

18 cnt Satsuma Mandarin Orange
6 cnt Gala Apple
4 cnt Navel Orange
4 cnt Meyer Lemon
3 lb King Richard Leeks
2 bu Nantes Carrot
1 cnt Romaine Lettuce
1 cnt Butternut Squash, winter
1 bu Brawley Red Beets
1 bu Bunched Broccoli
1 bu Assorted Kale
1 cnt Bulb Fennel

I will keep you posted as to how it all turns out. Anybody have any favorite recipes for fennel they would like to share? That is the curve ball in this box. :)

Blessings to you!

About Diane Marie Haller

I am a grateful wife and mother who loves the Lord my God, my husband, my children, and creating a home that we are sorry to leave and can't wait to come home to. Visit often to read the stories of this love-filled life of dorm rooms, diapers, and everything in between. I find joy in the creativity that the Lord gives to bring all of these stages of life together into a family that loves Him and desires to know Him better and serve Him with our everyday, normal lives. Tune in for stories, recipes and life lessons, all mixed with a bit of humor. I would be honored and blessed if you would stay awhile and share a bit of your lives too! Blessings! Diane (aka Robin's wife. :))

    Diane,
Fennel is one of my favorites. Raw, it’s like celery with an anise taste- so you can put it in any green salad. And, I love to roast it with a little evoo, s & p. The flavor mellows, it’s a great veggie alongside chicken or fish. I look forward to seeing what you do with it!

I once had potatoes au gratin with gruyere cheese and slices of onions and fennel baked right in alongside the potatoes… so yummy! Not the healthiest option for using it, I guess, but delicious nonetheless! :)
